My son and I were at a concert at a super popular venue here in Phoenix; while I was there I did something I wouldn’t normally do at a concert….I watched the people and how they experienced the show. Before the judgement starts on how creepy that sounds I did it to validate the reason we started our journey to help people with what we do.
I observed from a wallflower watch point and I saw an issue that was not only affecting many people but would soon expand to include my son (the real fan of the band). I saw people standing in a crowd while trying to keep track of their coats that it was now too hot (in a wall-to-wall room full of energetic people), their purses, and even merch they waited in line to get.
I thought to myself…..”huh, if only there was an automated locker system they could store their stuff in so they can fully become immersed in the show [shameless plug]. But on a serious note I watched many many people try to clap, raise their hands in the air, and even mosh (I was indeed at a punk/metal show). Even my own son rushed the merch booths between band 1 and band 2 and I had to laugh as I reached out for him to hand me his vinyl record of the featured band (yes those are indeed back in full force) and sweatshirt…I did this so he could enjoy the show.
That wasn’t the beginning of it either…as we were waiting in line to go through security at the entrance, I saw people turned away because they had an item on the prohibited item list. I once again thought to myself….if only there was a locker system that they could store that item in [shameless plug #2] as opposed to going back to their car to stow the item…..but what happens if they took a ride share there? They don’t have that luxury. I didn’t stick around to watch that unfold but it really did make me wonder how they handled that.
The moral of this story is really what keeps me going strong in my belief that we, at Lock It Or Lose It, are truly doing what we do to enhance the fan base experience and eliminate worry of keeping track of “stuff” while they try to enjoy the show. But the challenge in the title is kind of a fun one…..watch how many people are affected by this. And if you’re a venue owner/manager, even if it is not our storage lockers…solve this problem for your fans/customers and get some installed (but ours are the best).
